Weekly Wrap Up

We did a lot this week! First up, Colin turned 5!! We celebrated with a lunch at Edgar's Bakery and for dinner we made BBQ and opened gifts.

Colin has his 5 year check up Wednesday and weighed in at 44 lbs and was 44 inches.

Thursday night was Helena First Friday (confused?). They usually do it on the 1st Friday of the month but this month they did it on Thursday, I assume to correspond with the city fireworks. We walked around old town and I discovered a new boutique I plan to go back and visit and got to look inside a new bar and grill that is set to open soon (yay!!). We grabbed some delicious tacos from a food truck and ran into The Depot to get Colin a hot dog. We brought our food down to the playground/park area and ate and played before walking around town again.

There were a lot of vendors there and Colin got a gourmet popsicle for dessert and got a picture with a couple of Helena Belles. After that, both boys started fading fast, so we left before the fireworks even started.

Friday we were more prepared. EVERYONE took a nap in the afternoon so we could stay up for fireworks that night. We went to The Club where they had a great view of the Birmingham fireworks. On the lower lever there was a kid zone with bouncy houses, face painting, balloon twisting, tattoos, ice cream, milk and juice boxes, and DJ with a bubble machine. We had to practically drag Colin out of there.

Both boys stayed awake until the fireworks. Charlie didn't pass out until we were in the car at 9:30.

Saturday we started the day by going to Oak Mountain State Park. They have camping, hiking, horses, golf, a little beach, and a small farm/petting zoo (which is what we did that day). Colin got to pet and walk around with some goats, donkeys, and a miniature horse. That evening we took a bike ride/walk on the Hillsboro Trail and Colin wanted to stop to watch a passing train.

Sunday morning I got to take a bike ride all.by.myself. It was so nice. I rode the trail and through a neighborhood to a lookout spot.
