Good-bye Cavalier

Hello SUV.

Andrew is one happy boy this morning. He is finally rid of my college car and last night picked out his new (to us) SUV. Andrew has been looking at cars for a few weeks trying to decide what he wanted. With minimal input from me, he chose a Jeep Cherokee Laredo and so far loves it!

We traded in the Cavalier and got more than we thought we would for it. Andrew predicted they would only offer us $15 for the gas left in the tank. That car was missing a dial for the volume, had a driver's side window that stopped rolling up, had horrible shocks and brakes, and required you to push on the gas pedal for at least 5 seconds before the light turned green if you wanted to be in motion when the light turned green. Needless to say, it was time for a new car. He was a good sport for driving it for the past year.

When had a good experience with CarMax and an interesting sales associate. After it was all said and done, he approached us in the waiting room and tried to sell us these body and fat cleansing shakes (he sells these on the side from home - I think they sell them at GNC also) for me to rid my body of fat and toxins after I deliver my baby. So strange. He talked t us about these as I ate my Banana Moon Pie from the vending machine. I told him I thought that this moon pie was considered healthy since it was banana flavored. He probably thinks I am an idiot. It was nearly 8 o'clock so I was hungry and tired and ready to get out of there...we had spent enough money without adding protein shakes to the list.

Side note: when I get to heaven, I am going to ask God why the gestational duration for humans can't be 34 weeks and 2 days. It is amazing how quickly you can go from "I feel pretty good, just tired" to "OMG! I am so uncomfortable - why even try to sleep. And did I shrink my dress??" (My dress is a little shorter today and I am showing a bit more leg than I am comfortable with. I refuse to buy any more maternity clothing though.)

Fur Fighter

I wanted to make a product recommendation:

We feel like Molly is part of the family, and we don't restrict where she hangs out in the house too much. The only place she isn't allowed to hang out, unless she is supervised, it the master bedroom, and that is only b/c I am afraid she will find that one sock you forgot about and chew on it. She also knows not to come up on the bed unless invited - which she is good about - mostly because my comforter is white and she sheds black hair like I never imagined possible. She also likes to hang out on the ottoman.

With that comes LOTS OF FUR! Brushing helps, but doesn't prevent. I first tried the Pledge Pet Hair Remover. It worked pretty well. I needed to buy a new one b/c Molly thought it was her new toy. I couldn't find it in the store this time, but I did find a Scotch brand Fur Fighter.

AMAZING. I am throwing away the tape roller (well, it is still useful for lent on clothing) and only using the Fur Fighter from now on. I just bought a second one, so I could keep one in the bedroom and one in the living room. I intend on trying it in the car on the floor in the back seat soon. Refills are also pretty inexpensive (compared to the amount of tape off the tape roller I would have to use every time I wanted to de-fur the furniture).

The next best thing would if we could get Molly to stop shedding all together.

My First Country Music Celebrity Citing?

I have been back and forth with this in my head for two weeks. Was this my first Nashville celebrity citing? When we were in Cool Springs a couple weeks ago, I swear I saw Brad Paisley grocery shopping at Whole Foods. Very possible, right? I think they live in Franklin, and he didn't have any shows around that time (at least not that I could find via google). This isn't like if I had seen Keith Urban - I would recognize him standing in the produce section even if I was all the way in the dairy section. Brad Paisley looks...normal.

I saw him again when we left, him pushing his cart out, and I got another good look. The only reason I question it is because Andrew said he was too thin. But isn't he pretty thin?? Other than that, I would completely say it was him.

So, do I count this as my first country music celebrity citing in Nashville? Or wait for another opportunity? (For the record, I have seen other country music stars, but that doesn't count b/c it was either at some type of performance or award show...they are expected to be seen there.)

Here is a blast from the bast (and laugh at me if you want) but this is a picture from the first time I ever saw a celebrity out and about - ever:
Who is that? Can't you tell?? From that stick of a leg and the back of that kid's head? That would be Angelina Jolie and Maddox. I wasn't fast enough with my camera. When I visited New York in 2005 we sat down for a bit in Central Park and saw her roll on by in front of us. I would have had her face in this had that paparazzi not been in the way.

I will admit - I hoped all day after that, that we would then see Brad Pitt. No such luck...

Big Baby Fear - No More

I had a growth scan and BPP today and everything looks good! My baby is no longer a "big" baby and is back to the average size and weight for its age. Looks like last month we caught him/her after a growth spurt. Today they estimate the weight to be 4 lbs 10 oz. Baby's eye were opening and closing and so was it's mouth. The little feet were pulled all the way up by it's head, which explains the breathtaking kicks to my right hip recently.

We also saw some hair on baby's head. Well, she pointed it out last month, and I said that I saw it...but honestly, I just saw some fuzziness around the head. This time I actually saw what she was pointing to. I am excited to see if this baby really has hair when they are born!

No pictures though. I keep getting the machine that doesn't print pictures. However, I do keep getting the ultrasound tech that is very friendly, so it is worth the trade to me.

We took our hospital tour last Wednesday, and I was honestly surprised at how nice the birthing suites at MTMC were.

I have a feeling the next 8 weeks are going to be slow, so I am trying to figure out things to fill up my weekends and keep me entertained. Nothing big. Almost stupid - for instance, in two Saturday's I have a hair appointment. I just need something on my calendar. The RC Cola and Moon Pie Festival is in June, so that is something else to look forward to. And then I draw a blank...I hope Andrew is up for some outdoor home improvement, b/c that is what I am leaning towards taking up some time.

32 Weeks!

Only 8 more weeks left!

What has happened these last four weeks: I got my first "stink eye" from someone at our new church, for the reason Andrew and I can only assume is because I am knocked up and don't have a ring on my left ring finger. I immediately went to The Icing and bought a cheapo fake so avoid that situation again. I have never been so uncomfortable in my life...at least we assume that is what it was. I asked him if my dress was tucked into my underwear or a boob hanging out or something. Nope, I was all put together - even made the effort to wear heels to church that day!

I also decided to take my engagement ring and wedding band in to Shane Co. to get all buffed, cleaned, and a new appraisal while I wasn't wearing them any way. We also took in Andrew's ring since we made the trip. When we picked it up, the lady asked us when the wedding was. Andrew really wanted to tell her, "We are going to wait a few weeks until she starts to show." He saved me the embarrassment and avoided any comment like that altogether.

Andrew decided to test out the Baby Bjorn with Eeyore.

The baby has a new onsie waiting for him/her.

Maybe I do have a green thumb!

So, back in March, I planted some strawberry plants into my strawberry pot in an attempt to grow some delicious berries. Look at my progress:

I might actually have some edible berries!!

The Bachelorette

The new season of The Bachelorette starts soon, so I went to ABC's website to look at the "25 eligible bachelors" that she is getting to choose from.

If I had to pick today just based on looks, I would pick Kiptyn. OK, I am not so sure that name is even real. In fact, I just went to a baby name website and typed it in looking for the meaning or origin of Kiptyn, and it pulls up nothing. So I am definitely going with made up.

Also, on the whitepages.com website, they have a name popularity tool. When I typed in Kiptyn, it showed that in the whole United States, there was only one listing for a Kiptyn, and that is in California where this man resides. (The name Leah seems to be very popular in California and Texas.)

He may have a made up name, but he is very photogenic!

Baby Shower

I had such a nice shower this weekend, and I loved all the cute baby things I got. But my favorite part was my cake. I am a sucker for sweets. And I really like pretty sweets:

If anyone ever wants to meet up at Julia's Bakery for a treat, call me. I am always up for a cookie. =)

Edit: I never posted a picture of Cassie's baby shower cake from Julia's. They do such a good job! And for future reference for anyone buying a cake there - they feed WAY more than they say they do. Cassie's was supposed to feed 40 people, and we had a ton left over and almost 40 people there. Emily said mine fed 20 and I swear she had almost 1/2 the cake left. She was sending everyone home with some!
