4 Months

He's 4 months old!

We get so many comments on how big he his. Last week alone I had two separate people tell me he would be playing football. Ha! Nurses at my check up were shocked to see how big he had gotten and my Dr said you would have never guessed we had concerns over him being born unhealthy or with a heart problem.

His next Dr appointment isn't until next week (now tomorrow as it took me a week to get this tiny post done...), but we weighed him on our home scale out of curiosity. 17.8 pounds. Not even kidding. Andrew carried him out in his infant carrier to the car last weekend and hurt his back. He had to take Tylenol all day and even slept with one of those Icy Hot patches on his back. I'm looking forward to him being able to sit in a high chair and a shopping cart so I can ditch that infant seat/carrier for good.

He is now in size 3 diapers and we just moved into 6-9 month clothes last week. When I visit mom I am going to hit up Carter's for some new clothes for him (we don't have one here!) and get him all set for the Spring. Somehow Colin has a ton of Spring clothes. I guess I have been buying them here and there and not even realizing it, which is nice.

Sleeping at night is hit or miss. He's in his crib and I will occasionally get a night with no waking, but it isn't predictable. If he wakes to eat it is still between 4 or 5 in the morning.

He is DROOLING. And chewing on his forearm. He has gotten clingy and fussy lately too which is making me think he might be getting close to getting some teeth. I don't see any tooth buds yet. I don't remember much about Colin's first teeth, but I remember them just being there one day. After extreme fussiness. One just showed up. So I check his mouth every couple days.

Nothing really new to report for him. I'm just looking forward to him being more interactive as we get into the warm weather and are out and about more.

March Stitch Fix

I've seen Stitch Fix for a while now. Mostly while I was pregnant, so it wasn't something I could do right then. Last month I finally decided it was time to signup and give it a try. My closet needs to be resuscitated and I tried shopping with two little ones...and have nothing to show for it.

What is Stitch Fix? It is a monthly styling service. You pay an up front $20 fee to be styled. When you sign up, you fill out a detailed profile with your sizes, likes, dislikes, etc. I was even able to give them my link to a Pinterest board that I add clothing items I like. You can tell them your style (I put classic) and what type of items you are looking for from casual to work attire and even date night clothes. It even asked if I was a mom. Ha! You can also put price points for items so you don't get items that are out of budget.

I got my first box Wednesday and told myself that if the sizing was off, that was OK. If I liked the styles that were selected I'd try again next month. I was hoping for 1 item to work for me.

So here is my first box:

I was so excited to see it arrive and the inside was packaged so pretty and ready for me to unwrap! It came with note from my stylist and a style card for each item I received with ideas on how to wear it.

My first item was a Chevron Infinity Scarf ($34)

I thought it was cute and was going to use it as my backup item. I already paid $20 for the styling fee. If nothing else, I would keep this and only paid an additional $14. Since I ended up liking other items, I decided not to keep this. I would love one of these, but Charlie is putting everything in his mouth right now, so I know this would end up getting slobbered on. I kind of hope I get it in a box again in the future.

Heathered V-Neck Dolman Sweater ($48)

I loved the fit of this sweater but wasn't crazy about the color. I ended up sending it back, but told them if I had received it in a fall box I would have kept it. I'm just not looking for sweaters for my closet right now.

Solid Tab Sleeve v-Neck Blouse ($68)

This was the only item in my box that didn't fit. It was just a tad too big. And the sleeves wouldn't stay rolled either (which might have been the style...I don't know). I might have even kept it, a little large and all, if the sleeves didn't feel so odd.

High Waisted Cropped Trouser ($99)

These were in my "maybe" pile for a while. I REALLY wanted to keep them. They fit perfectly but the color of blue didn't go with much I already had in my closet. It looked great with the blouse above and had it fit I would have kept both. I let them know that I loved the pants (fit and size) but they didn't go with much that I had and would have preferred them in black or a green. So maybe I will get them again in the future in another color. (Fingers crossed!!)

Distressed Boyfriend Jeans ($88)

This is the item I kept! I pulled them out and thought "no way." I never pick up distressed jeans. I am not one to buy jeans with holes already in them. But I tried them on and loved them. I send a girlfriend a picture of me in them and made sure I wasn't too old for them and decided to keep them. I have a ton of jeans (I love demin) but have nothing like these. They go great with simple tee shirts and I even wore them to the park with a pink scoop neck tee, gray cardigan, and my Nike's.

So out of all the items, I only kept one. But I kept one that fit great and that was something I would never pick for myself.

I really enjoyed this service and dropped my Birchbox to try this out for awhile. If you have any interest in trying for yourself, click here to use my referral link when you try to I get a credit. =)

Household Happeneings

We've been keeping busy around here lately. Colin started Tee Ball and has his first game this week! Saturday they had "opening ceremonies" and all the teams walked out on the field in a little parade, they threw the first pitch of the season, and then they had a small celebration with hot dogs, snow cones, batting cages, coaches dunking booths, and bouncy houses. We had our team pictures made and left ready for a fun season of ball.

His friend, Sam, from next door is playing ball also so we got to hang out with them during the festivities.

We've still been working around the house. In the kitchen my granite is installed and my tile back splash is up next. I have been going back and forth on tile for weeks and evens pent time at a local tile & brick place where they tried to help me design something. In the end I kept coming back to this scalloped tile. Andrew is not trilled with it, but said to go with whatever I wanted. I'm kind of afraid I will regret it, but I keep coming back to the same tile. And I've got lots of complements on it when I was purchasing it, which  makes me feel better. I guess we will see...

Other house stuff? Finished the dining room except for a coat of paint on the railing. Cut down a ton of overgrown shrubs on our property, and rearranged the playroom and purchased a little more toy storage.

I really am going to post a "tour" soon. It is just slow going with a pre-schooler and infant. Painting kind of happens on a whim when everyone naps at the same time. =)

Our furry kid has had quite a couple weeks. We noticed she was peeing a lot (like multiple times in the middle of the night) and even had an accident in the house while we were gone one morning. Never happens. So we took her to the vet thinking a UTI or something. Nope! Molly had diabetes. So after a week long stay at the vet to get her sugar regulated and figure out a proper dose of insulin she came home. She now has a special dog food and treats and we give her two shots (am & pm) of insulin everyday. She's doing great so far and has a blood sugar retest soon.

My Charlie boy is still a happy one. He is going with the flow and is still just a chunk. I swear he is half of Colin's size already. I take selfiies of me holding him occasionally just to document his size in relation to me at certain ages.

We have been trying to get to know our little town better. Last week we ate at two small restaurants and visited a great new park. We went to The Depot for lunch Friday where Colin devoured a hot dog, I had a great burger and Andrew had a chicken Philly. It is a cute little spot that is right next to the Helena Waterfall and is actually in the old train depot building, so we were also right next to the train tracks (which my little train lover enjoyed). After lunch we walked across the street to the Helena Ampitheatre where they have a great shaded park and where they show movies outdoors every Friday night in the summer. Can't wait to try that!

Saturday we tried Frankie's for breakfast. It was a cute mom and pop kind of place that also has a little market with fresh produce. Edgar's is still our favorite breakfast place, but this is a cute quick stop when we want to stay in town for breakfast.

Helena as a nice paved trail that we have walked a lot as a family lately. one small part of the path goes right by the train tracks (we have a ton of trains here...I get stuck at crossing often!). We heard one coming and waited for it so we could watch it go by. It was even better than we could have hoped for. When Colin waved excitedly at the train, the conductor waved back at him and even pulled the whistle. Pretty sure it made his night!

I love this little town and can't wait to find out more that it has to offer. A blog I follow made a post of thing to do in Helena and I wrote down all of the ones that would be interesting to us to try and do. Kind of like my small town bucket list.
