Kitchen Before& After

I am ready to post my before and after pictures. I took photos of house before we moved in our furniture, but after Charlie's birth my memory card went crazy and I lost a ton of photos, those included. So my before photos are of the listing, the way the previous owners had it decorated.

So....before:

And after:

Everything we did:

  • removed the old Formica counter tops and put in granite
  • replaced the sink with an under mount sink and a new faucet (it turns on by touch!)
  • replaced all the appliances with stainless steel
  • added a scalloped tile back splash
  • removed the molding under the cabinets
  • replaced the nickle pulls with black ones
  • replaced the light over the table with a new one
  • replaced the florescent light in the kitchen with a prettier one
  • painted the trim, doors, and ceilings (Dove White by Valspar at Lowe's)
  • painted the walls (Hopsack by Valspar at Lowe's)
It still needs some decorating and things to go up on the wall, but I figure that will be an on going process. If I wait until I finish that to post pictures, it will never happen.

Weekly Wrap Up

Monday we mostly hung around the house. Charlie is showing off the new skill he is trying to master: getting up on his hand and knees. He doesn't rock or move, but he is getting that belly off the ground!

Monday night Andrew finished laying the bricks around the flower bed around the deck. We pulled out and bunch of stuff and replaced with with a few rose bushes, a hibiscus bush, and some hydrangeas. We need to get a delivery of pine straw to cover the dirt and make it look finished. We are also still trying to figure out how to grow some grass in the back. It is so bare!

Tuesday I got my 3rd Stitch Fix and I kept one item: white denim shorts.

Wednesday we made kale and mushroom strogranoff. I took this picture to put with the recipe when I get a chance to post it. So yummy!

Thursday was a busy day. First Colin graduated from his 4k program. They sang some songs and wore a cap and gown. Then there was cake and punch and cute little "photo booths" after.

I took Colin out early that day since I was already at the school, and we went to the Galleria. Charlie got some new clothes and Colin spent some time at the Lego Store. Then we grabbed lunch in the food court, rode the carosel (even me & Charlie!), and then grabbed a treat at the Godiva store.

That evening we went back to The Club for family night and enjoyed a magician. He was making rabbits and birds appear out of thin air...Colin loved it!

This weekend we spent outside playing with friends and one the swing set.

Colin was so tired Saturday night that he fell asleep at 5 pm...under his bed. We moved him to his bed after a while and he ended up sleeping 15 HOURS.

This Wednesday we are off to Florida so my wrap up my be later next week.

Weekly Wrap Up

Monday I spent giving the kitchen one more coat of paint.

Tuesday we dropped Colin off at school, after taking Memaw to breakfast at Edgar's Bakery, and then Memaw and Charlie and I did a little shopping. Charlie passed out while at the mall.

Wednesday I made Charlie some more baby food for the freezer: blueberry sauce to add to his oatmeal. And when he is eating and it ready for his next bite, he will just sit there with his mouth open, waiting for you to put the spoon in his mouth.

He isn't a fan of rice cereal, but really likes oatmeal when I pair it with a fruit. He also loves Molly, and sticks his hands out for her lick, even when he is eating.

He had a doctor appointment last week and weighed in at 19 lbs 1 oz and was 27.5 inches long. His 9 month clothes are starting to get hard to button at the diaper area, so I'm making it my mission this week to start finding some 12 month stuff for him.

Also, just this morning, I found him pushing himself up onto his knees. Not for very long but he was getting his belly up off the ground a little bit.

Thursday we picked up some speed boat toys for Colin to take to the pool this summer. He wanted to try them out in the sink.

I hung up some frames in Charlie's room, but only have one photo of Charlie for the frames yet. So one of these is Colin and one is Charlie. Still can't get over how much alike they look.

Friday night we went to Top It Off for frozen yogurt (not as good as Sweet Cece's!)

Saturday morning we went to Edgar's Bakery for breakfast and Colin decorated a cookie for me for Mother's Day. Then at home he let me open his gift that he made at school. There was a pot holder with his hand print on it, and this picture of him with a hanger. I love it. I think he is dancing in the photo. LOL

Mother's Day I got to sleep in (yay!). Andrew made me breakfast and then we were off to church. For lunch we picked up Chinese at Zou's Kitchen and Colin actually shared my chicken and broccoli with me. HUGE step for him. He is so picky but coming around on some things. Then, I got a nap. =) So it was a great day!

(Late) Weekly Wrap up

A day or two late, but here it is!

Last Monday we started the day with a trip to Aldi, and Charlie was able to sit in the seat part of the cart! He can't at Target (the seats are deeper or something) but the Aldi carts are just right with the perfect buckles. He loves riding up there and makes my shopping trip so much easier.

Monday night we had severe weather so I set up camp in the basement. We had the pull out couch ready, moved the crib matteress down for Colin, and set up the pack n play in the Man Cave for Charlie. Since the Man Cave is the safest room, I had everything else set up in there: water, food, diapers/formula, shoes/socks, car seat, and helmets for all. After the ice storm, I didn't want to chance being unprepared.

Luckily, we just missed the damage and were fine.

Wednesday my mom came to town to stay for the week so I could get some stuff done on the house while she watched the boys. We planted new bushes around the deck and I spent most of my time painting the kitchen. I painted the ceiling, trim, molding, and walls. Here's a sneak peek (the walls used to be gold...) and I can't wait to post my before/after pictures.

Thursday night we took my mom to The Club for family night.

I made more baby food for Charlie. These are apricots, and he LOVES them. This week, along with apricots, he tried peaches and bananas and also loved them. So far he loves everything that has gone in his mouth.

Sunday night we played outside with the neighbor.

And just a few cute photos of my boys.

Oh, and meet Henry, our chipmunk friend. He is always on our deck. He chirps (I didn't realize they made that noise) and will come about up to the door. We have left pecans for him and he will come get them if Molly doesn't bark and scare him away. Maybe I should avoid feeding the wild rodent, but he's kind of cute. And we are pretty sure he lives up in the log behind our house.
