Tomorrow is the day

I board an airplane with Colin alone. I know it really shouldn't be a big deal, but it stresses me out. As in I can't get anything done today b/c I am worried I don't have my stuff or myself together for tomorrow. I have a game plan for tomorrow but it doesn't always happen the way I want. My plan?
  • My grandfather bring us to the airport at Noon
  • Load Colin into the sling and carry him on my hip. Attach diaper bag (only carry-on) to the stroller with all liquids on top ready to go. Put Colin's little suit case in the basket of the stroller. Rest the car seat in the seat of the stroller. Push the stroller of junk with one hand and pull my small roller duffel (Colin in sling so hands free OK) to the ticket counter. Try to look bad ass and not clumsy while doing this. =)
  • Check my roller duffel and Colin's small suite case.
  • Head to security. Unload the car seat first. Then remove the diaper bag and pull out the liquids. Fold and send through the stroller. Kick off flip flops and keep Colin in the sling unless they ask me to remove him. No biggie if they do.
  • Once through security reattach the diaper bag and put liquids back. Put away sling and load Colin into the stroller. Carry the car seat (no worries. It is a Britax Roundabout so it is pretty small and light.).
  • Locate the Family Restroom. Nothing else happens until I know where this is.
  • Find lunch (probably Whitt's) and buy a bottle of water to make bottles.
  • Locate gate and let Colin play on the floor or the little play area.
  • Pit stop at the Family Restroom before boarding for a fresh diaper and for me to empty my bladder.
  • Pray to God that he takes a nap on the plane - at least for a little bit.
Oh, and I am also stressing about the fact that before all that, I need to take Molly to Safari Pet Resort to have her boarded. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but she gets so excited when we get there that she goes wild. With Colin in my arms this is dangerous. I think I will bring in Colin and her food and have someone come out to get her for me. I don't know what else to do...

I don't like the unknown. It scares me. I like to know what to expect. Along with that I am also afraid of bees, heights, and driving in unfamiliar places.

Our Busy Weekend

This weekend started off with Colin's first hair cut! He didn't have much hair - at least up top and front - but the back was in serious need of some trimming. He was such a good boy and really didn't care that we were messing with his hair. He was totally into the watermelon dumb dumb sucker.
Then we headed home and Andrew and I worked on an outdoor project while Colin napped. After working outside in the heat we wanted something cold to eat so we headed to Dairy Queen where Colin got his first dish of soft serve. He loved it.

We were still hot so we headed to my parent's house and tried out the pool. The water was FREEZING and Colin wasn't a fan of the cold water. I don't blame him. I didn't like it either.

Then Sunday we played outside on his new play set! It was a pain to assemble but I think it is perfect. All we really do is swing in it, but it is toddler sized so eventually he will be able to play on it by himself without us lifting him up to turn the wheel.
During C's afternoon nap that day I cleaned the house. Not the inside. The outside. I had my bucket, rags, gloves, bleach/water mixture, and a ladder and scrubbed the siding. It was gross. I never realized until I cleaned it. There must a more efficient way. I only got about 1/4 of the siding cleaned. I am afraid of the bushed in the back b/c I keep finding huge bumble bees around them. Any tips on how to clean the siding and how to keep it clean? This is very new to me.

And then we watched LOST - which I was disappointed with. I think they could have answered more questions. We were just glad that we only invested 1 year of our lives watching the series instead of the 6 years most people had. It was a let down for us.

What we did this weekend?

Quick post to let you know what happened this weekend.

Colin took his first steps!!

And I was home with him all day yesterday because he has Croup. =( I don't know where he picked it up from but he started sounding pretty rough last Friday morning. It only got worse through the weekend and Sunday night he didn't sleep well at all. He was wheezing and hacking and miserable. He is now on steroids and some antibiotic because his ears were a little pink so we wanted to keep away any possible ear infection.

Hopefully this passes fast as in a week we will be hopping on a plane to New Orleans!

Mother's Day

This was my very first Mother's Day. I got to pick what we did all day. My big plan was to pick up a new play set/swing set for Colin and assemble it on Sunday. However the box didn't fit in the Jeep so we ended up having to order it on Amazon and wait for it to be delivered.

So instead we were pretty lazy all day. We went to church (where Colin "made" me a flower pot in the nursery) and then picked up brunch at Mimi's Cafe. The wait was 2.5 hours! No thank you. As long as I don't have to cook I am happy. So picking it up and taking it home was perfect.

After Colin's nap we took a walk around the Avenue, hung out around the house, went to visit my mom (and Aunt Megan), and then after dinner took a walk around the neighborhood.

As a gift, Colin got me a new Lasagna pan! I have only been hinting that I wanted one since before he was born!!

I hope everyone else had a nice Mother's Day as well!

Is it good but man is it messy!

And now that I see he can use a fork I hope he does it more often!

Some good news and some bad news

My mom e-mailed me today to let me know what Colin was up to. She asked this morning if he could have Chick-fil-a at lunch. And since that is one of the few places I will ever allow him to eat fast food at I said yes. She wanted to let me know that he got a kids meal and ate almost all the chicken nuggets and ate one fry. Don't worry. The chicken was broken into small pieces and the fry was offered after the chicken was eaten. He loved it. And that is all the good news there was.

(I know, fried chicken probably isn't the best option...but we kind of failed at baby food so I am excited to find that he loves almost any table food!)

And then the bad news. My sister was out of town this weekend. She went to Memphis. For what I am not sure. She lives in Nashville and when I pulled it up on Google Maps I saw that she is on the other side of the river behind Opry Mills. Her place is completely flooded.

She told her her boyfriend, Jake, was canoeing (yes, you can giggle at that. I did) over to her house to see how bad it is. Jake was taking care of her dog Belle so luckily no one was home. She said her neighborhood was evacuated yesterday and that a friend swam over to turn off the breaker in hopes of saving some things electrical. (I honestly don't know if that helps...)

Later she messaged me this picture Jake took when he got over there:

That is a park that is right next to her neighborhood.

Her car is under 8 feet of water and her house is completely flooded and everything inside is destroyed.

My sister is not like me. She seems to handle these situations with a little more grace. I tend to freak out and panic and cry. Megan is a little tougher.

If you think about it say a little prayer for her and, as material as it sounds, for her stuff. I don't think many of her things will come out of this as usable. Thanks!

Update: Here is the picture of her car she sent me. Either the water went down or it is less than 8 feet. Either way - the car is ruined. =(

And her boyfriend must really have a canoe...

Huh, really?

I am looking at cakes for Colin's birthday (only 2 months away!!) and I noticed quite a few Care Bear cakes. Are they making a come back? I have also noticed a lot of Strawberry Shortcake party stuff. I personally always loved her but never thought she or the Care Bears would be gracing us with their presence again!
