Poppy's Snickerdoodles

1 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 2/3 cup flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar

Mix together butter, 1 1/2 cups sugar, and eggs. Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt and then add this to the butter mixture.

Chill dough.

Roll into 1" balls. Mix cinnamon and 1/2 cup of sugar. Rolls balls into mixture. Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.
